The Special Days are Few
Nov 29, 2022Every year there are a few days that are considered special for retail: think major holidays not to mention Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and giving Tuesday. All of these days are great and they both give a goal to work towards and are just fun for everyone.
These days, though special, are few throughout the year. The number of "work days" far out number the "special days". We get excited about the special days. We get excited about the prospect of "new". I would challenge you to think about the work days as a chance for new. It's the small action you take on a regular basis that brings big change and ultimately joy.
We are inching towards the Christmas holiday season which is quickly followed by the promise of a New Year and all of the good things it brings. Good things can actually start right now with small actions. Think of this way: If you take 15 minutes each day to clean up a small portion of your desk/work space each day and do that continually for the next 30 days, you'd have a great new habit formed before the New Year even arrives.
Something as simple as a pencil cup to hold all of your pens, pencils, and markers is a great place to start. It's a simple, inexpensive step that corrals all of the tools you use everyday. each time you look at it you know what goes in it. It's a nice jumping off point to files folders, cleaning the surface of your desk, and discarding things into your shred and trash cans.
Start now wit a new habit and you'll be glad you did. Small steps, small actions, are just as important on the work days as sales on the special days.
